Overview

Why it works

The unsexy snack that is basically ice cream nutritionally. Cottage cheese, drizzled honey, torn berries and crunchy granola on top. Great pre-bed for the slow casein release.

  • Cottage cheese is ~80% casein, releasing amino acids for up to 7 hours - ideal before sleep.
  • Berries add fiber and antioxidants without pushing sugar high.
  • The whole thing takes under 5 minutes and beats any 5-dollar protein snack from the fridge aisle.

Ingredients

Ingredients · 1 servings

  • 1 cup (250 g) low-fat cottage cheese
  • 1/2 cup mixed berries (fresh or thawed)
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1/4 cup crunchy granola
  • 1 tbsp sliced almonds
  • Fresh mint (optional)

Instructions

Step by step

  1. 1

If you prefer a smooth texture, blend the cottage cheese for 20 seconds until it resembles thick Greek yogurt; otherwise use it as-is with its natural curds.

  2. 2

Spoon half the cottage cheese into a glass or bowl and spread it into an even layer.

  3. 3

Add half the mixed berries on top, pressing a few down into the cottage cheese.

  4. 4

    Drizzle with half the honey.

  5. 5

Repeat with the remaining cottage cheese and berries, then drizzle the rest of the honey over the top.

  6. 6

Scatter the granola and sliced almonds across the surface and add a few mint leaves if using.

  7. 7

Eat immediately for maximum crunch, or prep without the granola and refrigerate up to 3 days, adding the granola right before eating.

Pro Tips

Coach-level details

  • Buy the good full-fat cottage cheese - low-fat versions are watery and taste like nothing.
  • Blend the cottage cheese if the curds bother you - texture goes to Greek yogurt smooth.

Storage & Swaps

Keep it, swap it, save it

Storage

  • Prep without granola, hold up to 3 days.
  • Add granola right before eating so it stays crunchy.
  • Label containers with the prep date.

Smart swaps

  • Skyr or Greek yogurt for a smoother base.
  • Peanut butter drizzle instead of honey for a savory-sweet spin.
